Riihimäki region

Riihimäki offers history, culture, peaceful nature and a wealth of events. During your visit, you can enjoy both urban culture and the relaxed lifestyle of countryside. Hausjärvi, Loppi and Riihimäki come with their own special characters. When it comes to accommodation, eating and shopping, a visitor to the area is spoilt for choice. The area is within excellent travel connections, so you won’t have to spend your precious holiday in a car.

Hausjärvi combines a relaxed lifestyle with active village life. Hausjärvi’s cultural surroundings and the Salpausselkä ridge offer a perfect setting for diverse leisure activities.

Loppi stands for peaceful natural surroundings and the great outdoors. The area boasts more than 300 lakes and ponds. Its hiking trails and canoeing routes are in a league of their own, and visitors can enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings on foot, or by canoeing or mountain biking… Marshal Mannerheim’s Hunting Lodge and the Räyskälä Aviation Centre, Finland’s main facility for gliders, are both well worth a visit.

With its galleries, museums and historical sights, the green and leafy Riihimäki offers plenty to see and do. Best known for its glass design and production, Riihimäki is home to numerous glass studios and galleries, the Finnish Glass Museum and Hyttikortteli, a century-old residential area originally built for the glass factory’s workers. Another must see visitor attraction is the Hunting Museum of Finland, located right next to the Glass Museum. The Riihimäki Art Museum is a leading Finnish contemporary art museum and is a great place to enjoy arts from Finnish and international artists.

The Riihimäki area is a perfect destination for day trips and longer visits alike.
